Most Popular Cosmetic Concerns And The Treatments That Combat Them:
Thinning Lips
Our lips and the skin around the mouth typically lose volume as we age. This loss of volume and change in the shape of the mouth can lead to a sad, tired, or angry appearance. Lips are one of the most popular facial features women want to enhance, usually because of a lack of confidence in their appearance. Restoring some of the volume loss in the lip area can result in a rejuvenated, fresher, and happier appearance.
This is the most common reason women request a treatment for thinning lips
• not to achieve a big lip size but to restore what has been lost through age. Occasionally, younger women who are unhappy with their naturally thin lips want them augmented with advanced skin treatments to achieve a
plumper, more sensuous look. Non-surgical treatments such as hyaluronic acid lip fillers can address thinning lips and give you a fuller look that doesn't cause the mouth to look unnatural. These lip fillers can plump the skin in a way that makes the result look completely natural. Ready to treat your thinning lips and get your confidence back? Book your appointment with Mary-Ann today.
Injectable facial fillers with hyaluronic acid, are the most common way to restore volume to the lips. This is
because lip plumping injections allow a relatively quick and easy procedure that is temporary and reversible if you change your mind. Although the use of lip fillers on thin lips often gets a lot of bad press, done well - by the right practitioner
• The results should be completely undetectable. The only thing anyone around you should notice is a
naturally beautiful lip and smile. Our thin lip fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance produced in the body. HA decreases over time due to a range of factors, commonly ageing, sun exposure, and vitamin deficiencies.
Hyaluronic acid lip fillers offer considered a more 'natural' way to fix thin lips without surgery. Dermal fillers are suitable for men and women with all skin types.
Wrinkly Forehead
Forehead wrinkles are horizontal lines across your forehead which occur when raising your eyebrows. They are used to convey feelings and human emotions such as fear, surprise and happiness.
Why do Forehead Wrinkles appear?
Forehead wrinkles are caused by the action of the frontalis muscle on the forehead. This muscle contracts when we raise our eyebrows. The raising of the frontalis muscle pulls the skin of the forehead up and causes forehead wrinkles which appear as lines across our forehead.
Some people naturally tend to be more expressive, and raise their eyebrows many times throughout the day, when we are young our skin will bounce back when we stop raising our eyebrows, however as we get older the skin tends to form a more permanent line on the forehead.
Treating forehead lines with Boto## injections
As effective as healthy diets and beauty products can be, for improving skin health and the appearance and texture of the skin, once lines are present they may not be as effective in treating them. A popular treatment which can reduce forehead lines are Boto# injections. Following consultation with a doctor, Boto# may be suggested as one option for managing Forehead Wrinkles. Boto# may be considered after lifestyle factors which promote skin aging are addressed and after adhering to a good skincare and beauty regime to protect and nourish the skin.
Boto# is a muscle relaxant which is injected into the frontalis muscle on the forehead. This causes relaxation of the muscle for a three month period, thus reducing the upward movement of the eyebrow and stopping the skin from wrinkling. Boto# can also help to break the habit of excess facial expressions, may correct uneven eyebrows and may also work to prevent expression lines from developing deeper than they would have done without treatment.
Forehead Boto# treatment is often performed together with frown Boto# treatment as this tends to give a more even result with the whole of the forehead (lower and upper) being successfully treated, and often avoids the heavy eyebrows look that can occur when just treating the forehead on its own.
Jowls
With most people experiencing signs of jowls as we age it’s no wonder this is one of the top concerns that I am approached with as so many of my clients want to look at ways to reduce and remove their appearance entirely.
What are jowls?
Do you feel like you have woken up only to see you suddenly have an excess of sagging skin around your jawline? Commonly known as jowls, this sagging skin can give us a real appearance of ageing and, as well as being unsightly, can leave us with a lack of confidence and an overall feeling of getting old before our time.
Our bodies produce collagen that keeps our skin looking firm, tight and youthful in appearance, but unfortunately once we hit 20, our bodies produce about 1% less collagen every year, making our skin thinner and more fragile. The decline in our collagen production, leaves us with fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and, yes, you guessed it – jowls! It is worth noting that jowls are a natural sign of the ageing process, and almost everyone will develop them as they get older.
If you are already dealing with the appearance of jowls, aesthetics intervention with is a good way of reducing the appearance of your sagging skin.
Treatments that can help?
Jaw fillers are one of the most popular choices of treatment for the jowl area as they can be used to rebuild the structure of the face and act as scaffolding for the skin to sit on. This enhances the contours of the lower face, whilst simultaneously kickstarting the boost of hyaluronic acid.
When injected in the cheeks, fillers replace the volume we have lost in that area, which, in turn, restores drooping and receding fat pads to their original position. This gives the lower face the support it needs, softening nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (creases running from the corner of the mouth to the chin) and jowls. A small amount of filler under the corners of the mouth area can help lift drooping mouth corners and sculpt the jawline, smoothing out any remaining signs of jowling.
